A CASE OF FIXED BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION USING BLADE-VENT IMPLANT

Abstract

For years attempts have been made to replace lost teeth with some kind of esthetically pleasing, secure prosthesis that approximates natural dentition in both appearance and function. One of the most fertile areas of exploration has been the dental implant. The dental implants may be broadly classified into two groups- the endosseous and the subperiosteal. In the endosseous implant, the principle is to set into bone an implant to which a fixed or removable partial denture can be attached. The subperiosteal implant involves placing over bone a device whose protruding parts serve as attachments for a removal or fixed partial denture. The author has experienced an endosseous implant using free design blade-vent implant on the lower left partial edentulous free end case in a 59 year old woman. He can change the removal partial denture for a fixed bridge.
